May celebrations

It's finally May !

'May' can only mean two things :

1. Birthday of the awesome people :P
2. Submission month (plays the siren and sends heart attack to every group members)

Every year, these two could not be more annoying by coming on the same month *sigh.

Nana's birthday was actually last Thursday but we had class till evening, so we kinda postponed the celebration to last Saturday. For almost a week, both Mayra and I had been looking for something that all of us can enjoy and we came down to the agreement of ... FULL BODY MASSAGE. Muahaha.

The plan in my head was :

Kidnap Nana from the demanding and clingy office (our workspace in the house lol), and had her blindfolded. I was looking forward to her screaming when the masseuse starts touching her.

Too bad she figured it out sooner than we expected. Haha.

Frankly speaking, it was the best massage I've ever had (speaking on the  behalf my masseuse only as Nana and Mayra whined that theirs were not okay). When she started her session, rubbing my arm, she asked me if I like to take showers at nights... which was kinda true. Yeah, yeah. I know it's not alright, was constantly scolded by parents too but late night showers are soooo good, I wish the risks are worth it.

After a few minutes, she began to massage my shoulders and came the question,

"Nggak cukup tidur ya?"

"Ya iya dong. Kapan bisa tidur nya mbak? Lagi mikiran assignment aja terus dehhh," was what I wish I could reply with but I just responded with another nod of accordance. Of course, you don't want to be rude to the person who has her hands down your neck (or basically have excess to my whole body). Really not hoping for the police to discover my dead body in a parlour.

Seeing my masseuse's skill in checking the nerves, Nana was hit by a pang of jealousy and so she asked hers, head pinned to the table, mouth mumbling, "Urat saya ada masalah tak?"
In return, she received a reply of, " Lah. Mana saya tau. Saya bukan doktor." Hahaha poor girl.

Anyway, we had a great 'work pause' and what's better was that all 3 of us could enjoy it muahaha.

Another week passed by and yesterday came with the annoying reminder from those two buffoons that it's my birthday. Could not be more discrete by stealing my phone and announcing it to the world -_- .  Was mad, I wished I could eat those two instead of birthday cakes *breathes fire.

Luckily, awesome birthday parcels which were posted by Kubis and SS saved Mayra's and Nana's butts, that I could not feel any annoyance but only butterflies of excitement in my tummy. Thank you girls for the ingatan tulus ikhlas dari jaooooh yang kau kirimkan melalui abang-abang posmen.

The initial birthday celebration plan was, Nana and Mayra wanted to take me to the Hin Bus Depot as there would be some art fair there and gosh, it sounded so wonderful and so did the posters, they looked awesome. It said there that anyone can participate and they will provide the tools. How cool is that!

Unfortunately, after meeting Dr Rita a couple of days ago, we had no choice but to go out again and find more respondents. So yeah, we spent one whole day roaming around Penang approaching Malays to help us. On my birthday. Lol.

Since we couldn't make it to the art fair, Nana and Mayra treated me with Chilli's lamb chop (lamb yaaaassss yummmsssss) and we eventually called it a day.

Overall, the girls did so great and I couldn't be more thankful :). I feel bad for them, they have to go all gaga every time it's my birthday hahaha.
Last year, they wanted to throw a birthday surprise but I fell asleep while doing the assignment in the living room (where the surprise was supposed to happen), in front of my laptop hahaha. When I woke up to pray at 3 AM-ish in the room, they quickly rearranged everything and blew the balloons. Haha. It was so funny. No wonder I kept hearing noises from outside.

These silly little things only make it harder to leave them girls next year, which similarly happened to my girls from the schools. Like, how do people even move on from awesome girlfriends? Any suggestion? Because I don't think i'm the clingy type of person, just overly attached  :P

Curry Tree

If you have learned from my Insta stories, you will know that in Penang, I have a few pet plants. Vera Wang, Aloe Vader, a few lemon-grasses, a baby chilli plant and ... a melodramatic baby curry tree. Or a very melodramatic curry tree.

The curry tree was given by Mayra's mom and since she is a very kind motherly lady, I tried my very best to keep the plant alive. I put it in the living room balcony, so that it can get a direct sunlight. However, it was very ungrateful and kicked my consideration out of the window. The plant decided to die. Like, literally die.

What happened was, I came home one evening to check on it just to discover that all of the leaves were gone.
What else do you want? I watered you, I put you under sunlight, at least let me harvest you first. *throws it from the balcony

With my heart broken like a shattered glass, I took it to the front balcony, hoping it would revive if I water it every day (only watered it once every 2 days before) and there would be more sunlight there too.
Maybe after hearing my constant whine on what a drama queen it had been, it came back to life after a few days.

But it only lasted as long as Mayra's determination to quit hoarding. It didn't last long. It died again afterwards. *throws myself from the balcony

To make it even worse, as I was recording an Insta story, announcing about it's second death, the last branch of hanging leaves suddenly flew all over the place, like a slap to my face.

HEY, what point are you trying to prove here ? By embarrassing me in front of my followers like that... HOW DARE.

Also, I'm so sorry, Mayra's mom. I tried my best. I hope we're still bff? No?

Nana and her Instagram feeds

Since Allia no longer live with us and Nana is very into a themed Instagram posts these days, the duty of taking photos inevitably fell into my hands.

Nana's determination is as high as the famous Burj Khalifa in ensuring that her photos are insta-worthy and come with the package of hilarious captions. As effortless as the photos might have looked like, the 'behind the scenes' beg to differ. That woman could go from changing 3-5 attires (if we're home) to finding 3-5 possible spots (if we're outside) just for her OOTD photos. I tell you, it's nothing close to effortless.

Just saying.

Now that I've typed this, I just realised one thing.
Hmmm...I always keep her updated with our schedules, drive her around, take her OOTD photos..., so this makes me
her P.A.

No. Not complaining. I love my job. I love my job. I love my job. (Iman, 2016) hahaha (If you don't know Iman, she's Vivy Yusof's P.A)

Nevertheless, I don't think that I'm at par with her demand for good photos but of course, she had no other choice but to accept the fate that has befallen on her, as long as she looks thin and tall in the photos.

For instance, this photo down here is not even centred but yeah, who cares. The lady looks smoking hot like the mother of dragons in it. That matters.

Without doubt, after taking her photos, she would attempt me with the question "You want me to take your photo?" in order to return my small favour. Well, I couldn't be more grateful that she masters her etiquette very well. Your parents must be proud of you.

Of course. Thank you, Anis Farhana. I look very slim too, thanks to the angle.

Just, ikhlas ke tak ambik ni?

This happened about a month ago but I've forgotten to blog bout it hehe

Since Penang is an island, when it's hot, it gets REAL hot, even my Veet wax strips melted. I started blathering on my Instastory about the weather , then about the veet, then came my frustration. Consequently, a friend had personally texted me and suggested
Norah Wax

Well, have you guys heard of it ? I hadn't and everyone else seemed to know about this local brand except for me, as if I had been living in a cave haha. My friend had been using this type of wax for a year or so, she said. She then suggested me an IG shop and I started browsing the hashtags.

Hmm... good reviews, cheap price, packaging looks nice.

But ...
I was torn in between two ;- putting the new unfamiliar wax onto my skin or continue using the old same Veet wax strips which had betrayed me. I mean, I'd been using the brand since forever. I didn't know if my skin would be okay with this new wax. What if it suddenly gets sensitive and itchy ?

I gave another brief glance at the poor looking melted pink wax spilling out of Veet's box, before reverting my eyes to the glimpse of Norah's jar in my phone.

Should I ? Should I not ?

Okay. I should Google more about this thing. And that was all I did for almost an hour.
All of the reviews were so good and I learned that it is completely organic . So... does it mean it's edible ? I guess so. Not that I wanted to eat them although the texture has been cunningly manipulative. Haha.

So after weighing enough thoughts and consideration, I decided to give it a go. Why not. If I don't like it, Nana and Mayra can have it.

Ordered it, purchased it, received the goods in good condition.

Since I was quite busy with my classes that week, I impatiently waited for the weekends.
I have specifically bought the Hot wax and boy, am I free from bulu now! Haha.

The best part was when you have to pull the strips only once and it leaves your skin bulu-free and not only that, smooth. I got hyped and wax everything haha. Nana joined in and had bought one jar for herself afterwards.

In case you haven't tried this brand, JUST DO IT !  *in Shia Labeouf's voice.

I will leave the link to the Instagram pages here and trust me, it's good. I wouldn't recommend it here if it's not haha.

I still remember the days when Mak would buy me cheap cloth a.k.a kain, so that I can practice making things. For instance, this thick and heavy skirt only costed her RM 3. Thus, she bought them in two colours, mint green and this lavender colour.
RM 6 and I got myself two skirts ! Can you believe that ?

The normal price would be RM15++ per meter but this one was the last 3 meters and they reduced the price to RM 1 per meter. God I love how this whole reducing price system work ! Please sell more. Please please please

Besides, I would only need 3 meters to make a complete dress and I'm off with my machine.
#theperksofbeingsmall *laugh at people who have been calling me small *shove their mouth with the reduced price of kain I bought

There were times too when Mak just gave me an outdated pattern of kain (which she got for free) and let me make anything
Muahaha! Bow before me, peasants. For I am the lord of kain.

It was fun though. I made pants, more skirts and more jubah/dresses. Some of the kain, with the ugly pattern which I know I won't wear to classes, were transformed into baju kelawar hahaha. Um yeaa'aah! Extra baju kelawar !

However, only recently, she had started buying me REAL kain and I instantly knew that she's finally given me the chance to roam free... I can finally inhale the air of independence... *flying out of my cage, browsing for more kain online

It was hard before. With her eyes watching every steps I took, "No, no. You should make the chest a lil bit wider," or "That's not how you handle the machine," and more 'tauke-tauke' kinda bossy nag. However, things are different now. HAHAHA. I can make anything I want.

So that's it. A short story of how Mak let me roam free :P . And yesterday, I wore the new doll kurung for our Dean's list ceremony. Mak had bought this kain last year but I only had the time to sew it during the last mid semester break.
Okayla. Not bad la. For my first attempt in doing something beside baju kurung, dresses and blouses.

My parachute of the semester.
Fly Anis, fly !

Both Nana and Mayra wanted me to make a pair of this dolly kurung for each of them. Well, Nana had requested it before but I kept on saying no because I was still scared. Somehow, yesterday I said, "Okay fine. Let's buy kain."
They suddenly got all jumpy and screaming, Nana immediately Google for cloth store in Penang. Oh my lord. People . Staaahhhp. Staahhpp. Gaaahh. These people la kan. Selalu over excited. Shouldn't have said yes. I am back to being scared again.

Congrats, boys

Not so little Naim and Najmi had just completed their first cycling marathon :) and I couldn't be more proud. I can still remember them crying A LOT when they were little. Well, although they still do, sometimes, this is another achievement unlocked, boys. Naim climbed Mt. Kinabalu last year after his UPSR and this year, these two brothers have ventured into cycling more seriously.

Oh boy, my little cousins always hit me with dejavus. Well, of course I didn't cycle or climb Mt.Kinabalu hahaha but I remember how my parents also pushed my sister and I to do as many things as possible.

Congrats, boys.

So the big family Whatsapp group was flooded with photos, of them cycling, of Tok Ma eating out with my aunty who's coming back to Kelantan and suddenly,

Abah sent this,

Ceh. Nak jugak masuk frame.

Haha lol.

It was all funny and lively at first but once the men started talking about cycling tips and gadgets,
I just have to mute the group chat.
And I believe, all of my aunties did the same too
How come the boys suddenly have this one common hobby ?
